ALFAPARF Milano Fantastic Salon Award

This category is open to any salon who has been trading for at least 2 years on the 1st of July 2019. If you are a salon group, then please recognise that this competition is for the salon not the group, and therefore all information should be based around a single salon. You can enter more than one salon from a group, however each salon will stand alone in the competition.

Your Opening Statement: In no more than 400 words, please tell us in general about your salon, it’s history and why you think your salon should win this award.

The evidence needed for this category will be based upon the 5 pillars of a Fantastic Salon.


  • What is your company focus and why do you want to achieve it?
  • Please provide evidence of the following information from July to June 2017-18 and from July to June 2018-19.
  • Your salon average weekly client count for the period requested (please note this is ‘clients’ not ‘services’. E.g. a client having both cut and colour services only counts as one in the client count).
  • Your salon average bill for the periods requested.
  • Your salon overall sales for the periods requested.
  • Please give examples of innovation and creativity within your strategy.
  • Please give examples and evidence of what action you are taking to achieve your focus.


  • Give examples and evidence of how you ‘focus’ on profit, in your business.
  • What is your profit target (express as a percentage)?
  • What percentage profit did you achieve in the periods July to June 2017-18 and from July to June 2018-19?
  • Please give reasons as to why you did or didn’t achieve your profit target (please be honest, not achieving your target will not, on its own, affect your chances of winning this award.)


  • Give examples and evidence of your communication structure within the salon.
  • Give examples of your company standards, how they link to your team focus and how you communicate, monitor and enforce them.
  • Give evidence of your training programmes.
  • Give examples and evidence of the success of this training.
  • Give examples and evidence of the way you motivate your team.
  • Give examples and evidence of the results of this motivation.


  • Give evidence of your customer delight standards.
  • Please show how many new clients have visited the salon in the two periods July to June 2016-17 and from July to June 2017-18.
  • Give examples and evidence of customer delight initiatives.
  • Give examples and evidence of how you measure customer delight.
  • Please, include 3 verifiable testimonials from clients of the salon - verifiable by either mobile phone number or e-mail address.


  • Give examples and evidence of your marketing strategy over the last 12 months.
  • Give examples and evidence of how you measure your marketing activity.
  • Give examples and evidence of how your marketing is unique, innovative and creative.

Submission deadline is end of business (5:30pm) Friday 20th SEPTEMBER 2019.

This deadline is final, no extensions will be considered.


Your portfolio needs to be clearly and creatively presented - yet concise and easy for the judging panel to read. Attachments to your entry are acceptable.



The judging panel will be made up of key independent and international figures within the hairdressing industry and business community.

The second (finalist) round of judging will comprise of mystery customers & telephone calls and salon visits may be made, where appropriate, and interviews may be conducted.


After the initial judging, you will be notified (no later than 10th October 2019) to advise you that you have reached the grand final. 

Please note you may be required to honour a free cut & blow dry or a mystery shopper voucher, if you reach this second round of judging.

Finalists will be asked to supply an image (to for use at the awards ceremony. The image must be of your team and your salon. The image must be good quality (300dpi) and depict you and/or your salon.
